Hormone Profiles
Hormones are chemical messengers from one cell, or one group of cells to another. The name is derived from the Greek “horman” which means to set in motion. Human and animal hormones are mainly produced by endocrine glands and secreted into the bloodstream.
Hormones have a wide range of actions from regulating metabolism, inhibition or activation of the immune system, induction or suppression of programmed cell death, to control of the reproductive cycle of all multicellular organisms.
Hormonal balance is of vital importance for health and well-being. Hormone levels vary at different periods of life. Hormone Profile tests take this fact into account. They provide information on the levels of growth hormone, testosterone, estrogen, progesterone, DHEA etc.
Hormone Profile tests aid in the --
- Detection of undiagnosed hormone imbalances related to symptoms of male and female health problems;
- Prescription of appropriate hormone replacement therapy;
- Monitoring of prescribed hormonal therapy.
The Issels Medical Center offers Hormone Profile tests using either blood, urine or saliva, and initiates treatment programs according to the individual patient’s needs.
