Comprehensive Immunotherapy of Cancer

Molecular Oncology

The Issels Medical Center has introduced a new specialized test to optimize treatment of its cancer patients:

  • The Molecular Detection of disseminated cancer cells in the blood stream to identify cancer patients at a higher risk of relapse.

  • The Molecular Analysis of these cancer cells for chemo-sensitivity to choose the appropriate therapy.

The laboratory needs 20 ml of the patient’s blood and uses proprietary techniques to isolate tumor cells from the peripheral blood. By means of the genetic characterization of these cells, high risk and low risk patients can be identified.

To quote the scientists: “Molecular analyses of the tumor cells for the expression of drug targets and chemo-resistance markers provide information for setting up an optimized therapy. Molecular analysis may facilitate decisions about the

  • Early initiation of therapy;
  • Targeted, patient-specific therapy;
  • Identification of resistance; and
  • Monitoring of response to treatment.

Since different tumors are treated with different chemotherapy drugs, the actual panel of drug modalities depends on the underlying type of tumor”.

The Issels Medical Center does not use mono-therapies. The various components are integrated into a comprehensive treatment program designed to improve the internal bodily environment, help patients eliminate the toxins from chemotherapy and tumor break down, as well as metabolic waste, and improve the overall immune and regulatory functions.

** In conjunction with the molecular detection of disseminated cancer cells, the Issels Medical Center utilizes the Electrodermal Screening Test for cancer patients. **
